Smoking Cessation

Smoking Cessation

Smoking related diseases are the single greatest cause of premature and preventable death. Smoking is linked to cancer of the mouth, pancreas, lung and larynx, heart attack, strokes, birth defects due to more than 4000 chemicals contained in the smoke, many carcinogenic in themselves.

Most people associate smoking with the single chemical, nicotine which is actually toxic in large doses but in small cigarette sized amounts it is a stimulant and yet imparts a feeling of calmness about 10 seconds after inhalation as the brain releases more dopamine.

Extra chemicals like ammonia are added to assist nicotine to cross the blood/brain barrier quicker so you receive a higher dose with each puff. The feelings of reward dissipate quickly causing the smoker to light up again to maintain the pleasurable effect.

Remember it’s never too late to quit smoking.

So why would people want to smoke?

Smoking is actually a form of self-harm; it’s the only product that when used according to manufacturer’s instructions causes harm and eventually kills. When people start smoking it’s unnatural but with repeated attempts it become entirely natural. Often smoking is done with a cup of coffee or a pint so an association is made between drinking and smoking which reinforces the habit. So when smokers then do something without a cigarette it feels unnatural.

How can hypnosis help?

Hypnosis strengthens and supports your motivation to quit by changing subconscious associations and habits that drive the need to smoke.

You walk in a smoker and go home a non-smoker.
